No one should be punished (reported, investigated, arrested, prosecuted, or incarcerated) for the outcome of their pregnancy.
Our response to the criminalization of pregnancy outcomes should honor and prioritize the privacy, dignity, and self-determination of people charged for their pregnancy outcomes, being mindful of the effect of public responses/actions on defendants and their defenses.
Resistance to oppression should center the voices of people with marginalized identities (i.e., Black and brown people, queer and trans people, disabled people, poor people, and young people)
The most effective fight for liberation has a diversity of tactics from people with a diverse array of skill sets and identities.
The most effective fight for liberation analyzes community dynamics: who holds power and who needs power.
Our organizing space should be grounded in respect and confidentiality. We should not share confidential organizing strategies without explicit consent and we should work to care for one another before, during, and after meetings.

We envision a state where all Tennesseeans have the right to have a child with dignity and autonomy and birth in the way and in the location that one chooses, including home births. And where all family structures are celebrated. Our right to have a child and create a family of our choosing is grounded in access to the material and healthcare resources that are needed to support having a child free from discrimination. This includes a living, guaranteed wage; free child care; paid family, medical, and sick leave; and healthcare for all.
We envision a state where all Tennesseans have access to the resources and services to terminate or prevent a pregnancy free from stigma. Where everyone is valued regardless of their reproductive capabilities or decisions. This includes comprehensive, evidence-based sex education (that centers diverse genders and sexualities) in schools and access to the full range of contraception options. There is accessible information for services and resources and equitable access to this information, including a centering of language justice. Abortion care is available to all who need it, and there is readily available post-abortion support. In our future, pleasure is abundant and centered.
Our communities are able to raise children in safe and healthy communities free from state-sanctioned and interpersonal violence. Communities across the state have access to transformative and restorative justice approaches as non-punitive paths to address harm and violence and there’s no incarceration for pregnant people. Where people do not have to fear immigration detention and deportation and are instead welcomed into our communities. Communities have access to clean air and water (free from ecological violence), healthy food options within their neighborhoods, affordable and safe housing, fully funded and resourced public schools with well-paid and supported teachers, and free after school and early childhood care, regardless of whether they live in an urban or rural area. A state where ALL children are safe and cared for with dignity.
We embrace religious and spiritual diversity, expressing our right to be grounded in moral and faith tradition free from Christian theocracy and other forms of religious violence. Tennesseans have the freedom to participate or not participate in a faith or religious practice without fear of prosecution or discrimination. There’s a separation of church and state. For those who are grounded in a faith and religious practice, religious and spiritual holidays and observances are honored without stigma or shame.
We understand that bodily autonomy is central to the movement we are building. We envision a state where all people are able to freely express bodily autonomy, free from coercion. This includes an expression of diverse gender and sexualities. Trans people are included and celebrated within our communities. Children are able to express bodily autonomy in our communities. We all are able to be grounded in our human right to self and community determination, free from sexual and gender-based violence. Consent education is taught within communities and schools and people are safe and free to live their lives, in community, toward self-determined purposes. Our communities are accessible and inclusive for people with disabilities. And all people are able to make informed decisions about their medical care.
